Fresh Ink April 2026 Revealed

JENNIE GODFREY ANNOUNCED AS GUEST CURATOR FOR GOLDSBORO BOOKS’ DEBUT SUBSCRIPTION FRESH INK

We are delighted to announce that bestselling author of The List of Suspicious Things, Jennie Godfrey, will guest curate the April edition of Fresh Ink, our newly launched subscription box dedicated entirely to debut literary fiction and the discovery of emerging talent.

Built on trust, taste, and a long-standing relationship with readers, each Fresh Ink title is selected by booksellers who know their audience intimately, with confidence and care prioritised over volume or trends. The subscription offers a deliberately human alternative to algorithm-led recommendations, reflecting a growing appetite for curated reading experiences and communities.

For April’s Fresh Ink box, Jennie has selected Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke (9 April, HarperCollins), an intoxicating psychological thriller about a successful ‘tradwife’ influencer who wakes one morning to discover her reality has subtly but devastatingly shifted. As a recent debut author herself, Jennie steps into the role of champion, placing herself alongside an emerging voice and inviting readers to discover the novel with her.

Author, Jennie Godfrey, said:

“As a recent debut novelist myself, I see it as an incredibly important part of my job as a writer to support other debuts, and I jumped at the chance to be involved with Fresh Ink, especially as Goldsboro Books have played such an important part in my own author journey. I had already devoured a proof of Yesteryear and knew immediately it was a novel I wanted to champion. Razor sharp, completely current and insanely readable, with a narrator no-one will forget, this is one of those books everyone will be talking about. It still lives on in my head, rent free!”

David Headley, Managing Director of Goldsboro Books, said:

“Book clubs only work if readers trust the taste behind them. In a world of infinite choice and constant noise, what people really want is confidence, someone to say, ‘This is worth your time.' Jennie taking over Fresh Ink isn’t a marketing exercise; it’s an author choosing to stand alongside a debut writer and say, ‘Read this with me.’ That sense of care, judgement, and community is what our readers are subscribing to.”

What is Fresh Ink?

Fresh Ink Members Receive:

  • A special signed, limited first edition of each chosen debut
  • 15% off all purchases from Goldsboro Books for the duration of their membership
  • Exclusive content and experiences, including author interviews, intimate evening events, and behind-the- scenes insights

Launched in January 2026, Fresh Ink is designed for readers who love discovering tomorrow’s voices in their original form, offering the thrill of being among the first to champion a writer before wider acclaim. Each month, the Goldsboro team carefully selects one debut novel, balancing editorial instinct, production considerations, and a deep understanding of their readership. Every selection carries responsibility: to the author being introduced, and to readers who trust the recommendation.

Previous selections include The Hill in the Dark Grove by Liam Higginson, Lost Lambs by Madeleine Cash and A Private Life by Stephanie Sy-Quia.

Goldsboro’s subscription legacy began with the launch of the PREM1ER Club in 2005, the UK’s first signed first-edition subscription. Over the past two decades, the company has introduced readers to numerous debut novels that went on to become international bestsellers and award winners, including The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce, Before I Go To Sleep by S. J. Watson, and The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman.

Today, Goldsboro’s growing suite of subscription clubs, including the Sci-Fi & Fantasy Fellowship and the Crime Collective, continue to function as cultural spaces as much as commercial ones. In an algorithm-driven market, Goldsboro remains committed to helping readers navigate an overwhelming choice of books and discover new writers through trusted, bookseller-led curation.
