Goldsboro Books Glass Bell Award for Contemporary Fiction

Goldsboro Books Glass Bell Award for Contemporary Fiction

The Goldsboro Books Glass Bell Award is a new annual award worth £2,000 that will celebrate contemporary fiction. The prize is for a novel written in English and published the previous year in the UK. Open to both established and debut authors, the Award will be judged by Managing Director David Headley and his team at Goldsboro Books, based on what they have read and enjoyed throughout the year. The team will be looking for standout novels and will be considering novels of all genres.

Goldsboro Books is a leading independent bookshop in Central London and the prize has been formed to celebrate 18 years of bookselling and to give something back to the authors who continually support our shop, signing and taking part in our wide array of events.

When choosing the winner, the Goldsboro Books team will look for a novel that is compelling, possesses brilliant characterisation with a distinct voice that is confidently written and assuredly realised. The first award will be given to an author whose novel was published between 1st January 2016 – 31st December 2016.

The longlist will be announced at Goldsboro Books’ annual Crime in the Court event on June 29th to coincide with Independent Booksellers Week. The event celebrates crime fiction and will have some of the biggest crime authors in the country present, and a legion of fans.

The winner will be announced on the 28th September, when Goldsboro Books will hold its 18th birthday party and an announcement will be made during the celebrations.

Longlist announced: 29th June 2017 during Crime in the Court

Shortlist announced: 1st September 2017

Winner announced: Thursday 28th September
