3 Tips For Squeezing More Reading Time Into 2025

3 Tips For Squeezing More Reading Time Into 2025

Determined to read more books this year, but struggling to see where you’ll find the time? You’re certainly not alone! But worry not - our booksellers share their favourite tips for carving out more time for reading the books you love in 2025.

Tips for squeezing more reading time into your day

  1. Always be in grabbing distance of a book

Wherever you are, always have a book within reaching distance. Your bedside table, in your work bag, maybe even the bathroom! This way, whenever you get even a 5 minute break in-between work, life, parenting etc, you can swap your social media scroll for a few pages of your current novel.

Eventually this habit shift can make a huge difference, so rather than automatically reaching for your phone, you reach for a book instead.

  2. Schedule your reading time in

Don’t just hope you’ll find time to read - make it a priority in 2025 by scheduling it like you would any other important commitment.

It’s so easy to think “This Saturday morning I’ll catch up on my favourite book.” But when Saturday morning comes around there’s often a to-do list mountain to get through and suddenly the morning’s gone without a single page being turned.

Blocking out time in your calendar, especially at the same time each week, is a great way to ensure your book gets the attention it deserves!

  3. Try habit-stacking with another activity

Habit stacking is a simple way to build new routines by pairing them with existing ones. For instance, reading for 15 minutes as soon as you’ve made your morning coffee, or diving into a new chapter right after brushing your teeth each night. By tying reading to an activity you already do regularly, it becomes a natural and effortless part of your day.
