    A very good first US edition, in the original binding. A previous owner's name and address has been written inside the front cover. A small section of the cloth binding has been worn away on the bottom front cover, and there is some minor wear to the top and bottom of the spine. In a good, unclipped dust jacket. There is chipping to the spine, and to several of the corners. There is also wear/distress along all edges of the dust jacket. Further photographs can be provided upon request.

Nevil Shute Norway was a popular British novelist and a successful aeronautical engineer.

He used Nevil Shute as his pen name, and his full name in his engineering career, in order to protect his engineering career from any potential negative publicity in connection with his novels.

He lived in Australia for the ten years before his death.
