About the Author

Abi Elphinstone

Abi Elphinstone grew up in Scotland where she spent most of her childhood building dens, hiding in tree houses and running wild across highland glens. After being coaxed out of her tree house, she studied English at Bristol University and then worked as a teacher in Africa, Berkshire and London.


She is the author of The Dreamsnatcher, The Shadow Keeper and The Night Spinner, a series of fast-paced adventure books for 8 - 12 year olds which follow Moll, Sid, Alfie and wildcat Gryff's quest to find the Amulets of Truth and destroy the Shadowmask's dark magic.
When she's not writing, Abi volunteers for Beanstalk, speaks in schools and travels the world looking for her next story. Her latest adventure involved living with the Kazakh Eagle Hunters in Mongolia.


In November 2016, Abi published Winter Magic, a self-edited anthology of frosty, magical stories from acclaimed children's writers such as Amy Alward and Katherine Woodfine. This was also published by Simon & Schuster.


The Night Spinner, the third in the Dreamsnatcher series was published in February 2017.


Abi's book, Sky Song, was selected for Waterstones January Children's Book of the Month and shortlisted for the Sainbury's Children's Book Award 2018.
